Woman in hospital after shots fired in Sheffield

A woman is in hospital with a suspected stab wound as police investigate shots heard in Sheffield.

Emergency services were called to Batemoor on Monday evening (May 13) where it is believed a row had broken out between a group of men and a woman.

Police have since found evidence of a shooting in the White Thorn View area and say a woman was stabbed.

Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing, however she remains in hospital.

Detective Inspector Claire Moss, from our Armed Crime Team and the Senior Investigating Officer in this case, said: “Thankfully no-one suffered life-threatening injuries or was injured as a result of the firearms being discharged.

“This could have been a different story with a very different outcome.

“Gun crime does not happen here in South Yorkshire – we will not tolerate it.

“If you have any information that can assist us in our investigation, we urge you to come forward.”
