Dramatic footage shows the bizarre aftermath of the crash which left Iceland’s van balanced on top of the car

A dramatic three-vehicle collision in Edgbaston, Birmingham, has resulted in an Iceland delivery van ending up perched on top of a car. The incident happened on Priory Road, near Bristol Road, on the evening of May 14.

Pictures and video footage from the scene show the delivery van with its rear wheels resting on the bonnet of a dark blue Vauxhall Zafira. West Midlands Fire Service was alerted to the situation at 5.54pm and dispatched a crew from Smethwick Fire Station.




Today, West Midlands Police confirmed that a car driver has been arrested. A spokesman said: “We were called to the junction of Priory Road and Bristol Road in Edgbaston just before 5.50pm yesterday (May 14) following a collision involving a car and a van. No one is believed to have been injured.

“The driver of the car, a 55-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and remains in custody today.”

Fortunately, no one was injured or trapped in the vehicles, and all occupants were able to get out before firefighters arrived. A spokesman for the service said: “Our time was 5.54pm. Our logs say three vehicles were involved, one coming to rest under a delivery van. There were no people trapped or injured. Everyone had gotten out of their cars before. to get there. We made the place safe and put cords around it. I left the scene with the police awaiting recovery.
