Early transfer speculation, signings and secure terms – Coventry City Q&A live

It may be all quiet on the transfer front at Coventry City as the dust settles on another action-packed Championship season, but there is plenty of interest and speculation surrounding summer targets.

The Sky Blues have already been linked with Preston North End midfielder Alan Browne and young Aberdeen playmaker Connor Barron, while fans are also waiting to see if the club accept a reported ‘first option’ for one of Peterborough United’s top performers.

Meanwhile, Doug King has been on radio to reiterate his ambitions for Premier League football, insisting the club’s recruitment department is “a work in progress” as Mark Robins looks to strengthen the strong core of his existing squad. This will almost certainly be without the contract of Callum O’Hare, of course, who has been offered a new deal but looks set to move to a higher club.

There are question marks over several signings, including Matty Godden and Ben Wilson, while there will be inevitable speculation over the future of star midfielder Ben Sheaf after the former Arsenal prospect has already been linked with interest from the likes of Fulham and newly promoted Ipswich Town.

Off the pitch there has been a lot of interest around season tickets and the club freezing prices this year, which has gone down very well with supporters starting to find their tickets for the upcoming term from Monday. However, the announcement was not without controversy, particularly regarding the new rules regarding purchases in the Family Zone and the planned ticket exchange scheme.

Elsewhere, the club announced it is installing a safe standing area at the CBS Arena, starting in the South Stand near the away supporters and extending to Singers Corner. So there’s a lot going on despite the closed season being well and truly underway.
