Chelsea fans urge Mauricio Pochettino to pick £52million player in starting XI against Brighton

Chelsea fans have taken to social media to urge Mauricio Pochettino to promote a player to the starting line-up against Brighton..

Chelsea travel to Brighton on Wednesday night for the penultimate game of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

The Blues go into the midweek fixture in seventh place in the league but can climb as high as sixth if they improve on Newcastle United’s result at Manchester United on the same night.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are on a three-game winning streak to catapult themselves back into the European race. Certainly, consistency in the starting XI recently has been a big help. In fact, they fielded the exact same line-up in three of their previous four matches.

Chelsea fans are pleading with Mauricio Pochettino to unlock Christopher Nkunku

A selection of Chelsea supporters online really want to see Christopher Nkunku promoted to the starting line-up away to Brighton.

The £52m (BBC) striker has dealt with an injury-hit first year at Chelsea, playing just 12 times in all competitions.

Nkunku recently returned from a hamstring problem to make back-to-back substitute appearances in wins against Nottingham Forest and West Ham. Could Blues boss Pochettino be tempted to hand the French forward his first start since February?

Here are some Chelsea fans on X who are desperate for Nkunku to start at Brighton:

A fan wrote: “Please start Nkunku tomorrow.”

Another claimed: “I’d start Nkunku and rest Madueke, Brighton would leave so much space that Mudryk would have a field day.”

said a third: “Reece shouldn’t be rushed, but Nkunku is ready to go.”

Another posted: “I think Nkunku and Sterling deserve a start, they look fit and have had a good impact off the bench

A fifth supporter shared: “We all want to see Nkunku start tomorrow’s game.”

said another: “Nkunku at 10 and Palmer on the right against Brighton please.”

Christopher Nkunku dilemma next season

First and foremost, Nkunku needs to stay fit and make himself a star man at Stamford Bridge. It is worth remembering that he is a striker who scored 70 goals in 172 games for former club RB Leipzig.

The Chelsea Chronicle the biggest question is how will Nkunku and Cole Palmer thrive in the same XI?

Both seem to thrive when operating as No. 1 central playmakers. 10, but are smart enough to adapt and attack in different roles.
