Man, 42, arrested after 60-year-old man was attacked and left for life

A man has been arrested following an attack in Croydon which left a man in his 60s on life support. The 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent following the attack in Melfort Road, Thornton Heath.

He is still in custody. Anyone with information should call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD5641/12May. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.



A Met Police spokesman said: “Police were called at approximately 6pm on Sunday 12 May to reports of a man being assaulted in a shop in Melfort Road, Croydon. Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and the victim, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital for treatment.

“He remains there in critical condition. A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent – ​​he remains in custody.
