The sleep expert says these foods help babies drift off on warm nights

A sleep expert has revealed the best foods to help children drift off as parents prepare for the challenges that come with warmer nights. Bedtime routines can become more complicated with the sun lingering longer into the evening, making it harder to soothe children and get them ready for sleep.

However, Cuckooland’s Ashley Hainsworth suggests that certain foods can help ease the transition to bedtime as the evenings get warmer in the UK, making the process much easier.




“Including sleep-promoting foods in your child’s evening meals can really help ease bedtime struggles in the warmer months,” he said. “Along with keeping their sleeping area cool and a regular evening routine, it’s a recipe for better sleep as summer approaches.”

Cherries

Ashley points out the benefits of cherries for promoting sleep in children. “Crees are not only delicious, but also one of the few natural sources of melatonin,” he said. “Melatonin is a hormone that regulates sleep-wake cycles, making cherries an ideal bedtime snack to help children fall asleep faster.”

BANANAS

He also points to bananas as another effective option for helping children fall asleep. “Bananas are rich in magnesium and potassium, two minerals that play a key role in muscle relaxation and nerve function,” Ashley said. “Including bananas in your child’s evening snack, about two hours before bed, can help their body relax and prepare them for restful sleep.”
