Roadworks have started on Queensway and Ford Foundry

Work on the Queensway and Ford Foundry roundabouts started yesterday (Monday).

When the improvements are complete, the scheme will see traffic signals at roundabouts, additional lanes, shared roads and dedicated off-road cycle paths, and improved crossing facilities to enable more efficient and safer road crossing.

The project will create a corridor of connected cycling and walking links to facilitate active travel and is due for completion in summer 2025.

Councilor Jan Matecki, Warwickshire County Council’s portfolio holder for transport and highways, says: “This is a major scheme for busy junctions, so unfortunately delays will be inevitable during the works.

“However, we will be working closely with the contractor to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum, so please bear with us.

“In the long term, this scheme will improve safety and traffic flow, increase commercial and retail activity in the area, as well as provide better pedestrian and cycle facilities.”

Traffic management will be limited between 9.30am and 3.30pm and road users are asked to plan their journeys in advance.

The funding has been allocated from the Local Growth Fund administered by the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership, in addition to funding secured from planning obligations.
