Masked men with machetes and shovels fight in the beer garden of a Nottingham pub

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a gun fight outside a Nottingham pub.

Officers were called to Millers Barn, Nuthall, after a row had broken out in the beer garden involving several people.

Three people wearing face masks ran out and began the attack at around 6.55pm on Friday (May 10).

The suspects were reportedly seen wielding a machete and shovels during the incident.

One man was left with cuts on his hands in the attack, while another man was hit in the back of the head.

Following the incident, the gunmen were seen jumping a fence and getting into a car before driving off.

Police investigating the incident have now launched an appeal for anyone who saw what happened to come forward.

Detective Inspector James Oakton, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a nasty attack which will be seen by many people due to the time and location of it.

“It being a beautiful sunny evening, the garden of the pub in question was full of families who unfortunately had to witness what must have been a very alarming sight.

“We have stepped up visible police patrols in the area over the weekend to provide some reassurance to the public and this will continue over the coming days.

“It should go without saying, but the violence shown in this incident was completely unacceptable, so we are determined to find those responsible.

“Anyone who saw what happened or has information that could help us do this, I would ask them to come forward immediately.

“This can be done by calling the police on 101, quoting incident 711 of 10 May 2024, or by contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
